Irvine High Wrestling has built a tradition of excellence since 1975, with 11 state place winners and close to 100 of CIF place winners. Legendary Hall of Fame Coach John Phillips, who led the program from 1987 for 34 seasons, guided the Vaqueros to 428 dual wins, 20 league titles, nine CIF Dual Meet semifinal appearances, and 22 Top 10
